Update tonight...

Update: I went back to review the entire contents of this site from the beginning (the entry for July 15th, 2004, which I have made the Introduction). Have I kept to my stated intent?

I'm still not sure if I can be a Maker in something after the way of John Meyers Meyers, but my artistic and writing skills are arguably better for the exercise.

I've managed to keep more or less to the schedule of twice a week, with some occasional intermissions. Am I better at working to deadlines? No. I still put things off until the last minute and struggle to complete them. Many entries were done between 1 AM and 6 AM. (I am in fact writing this at close to 2 AM.) This is a problem I have in other areas of my life as well; I hope to have better success in dealing with it this year.

I set my intent with regards to content very vague at first, knowing that I would likely have difficulty in producing new and relevant material each week. In retrospect, I was wise to leave myself this wiggle room. I did not make much progress in producing art for the main project, Bune Station. I had set myself the goal of finishing one story, and still have nothing to show for it - only the script and the comps (rough layout sketches) I produced for it several years ago.

So, at this very arbitrary beginning of another Terran circumsolar revolution, I'll state my intent once again for how I want to proceed and what I would like to have done by 2006:

  • I now have much more of a social life than I did six months ago, and I am trying to start a small business on the side. I may find it necessary at some point to cut back to one entry a week. I sincerely hope this won't happen.
  • I restate my goal of finishing at least one story of Bune Station: I want to have one pencilled up, if not inked, by the end of this year.
  • I'll strive to stop delivering tantalizing promises of interesting entries to come, only to chase off after something irrelevant and never get back to it, much like a man suffering from Attention Deficit standing in a field of butterflies and shiny objects. I shall also revisit topics I've forgotten in the past and try to close them out. (I may even try to participate in NaNoWriMo this year... Hah.)

I hope I won't have to eat too many of those words at the next annual review. I may not in fact get to every place I wanted to go, but so far I find the journey to have been more than worth the effort. I hope that you may find the reading of it to be rewarding as well.

Until!
